We are building strong momentum for regional transit and the formation of a Regional Transit Authority in Dane County, but Thursday evening (Nov 5) will be a critical step to moving forward – the full county board will vote on the formation of the RTA (Resolution 152) at 7pm.  The creation of an RTA is the first critical step to developing a seamless, region-wide transit system in Dane County that grows our region and local economy, meets our needs, and reduces our dependence on oil. Dane County RTA Hearing Set for October 26

A public hearing on establishing a Regional Transit Authority, hosted jointly by the Dane County Public Works and Transportation Committee and Personnel and Finance Committee has been set.

Public Hearings on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the KRM

As part of the Environmental Impact Statement and Project Development phase of the KRM Alternatives Analysis, a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been prepared by the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, on behalf of an Intergovernmental Partnership (IGP) of the Counties and Cities of Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT), and the Regional Planning Commission.

Wisconsin Transit Week is May 18-24

Public transit enhances quality of life throughout state

MADISON – In recognition of the key role that public transit systems play in Wisconsin’s economy, environment and quality of life, Governor Jim Doyle has officially proclaimed that May 18-24 is Wisconsin Transit Week. The governor’s proclamation honors Wisconsin’s transit organizations, including bus systems, shared-ride taxis, and specialized paratransit and medical transportation companies, for the service they provide to urban centers and small communities throughout the state.
